With Beechland’s close proximity to Downtown Manteo, enjoy a casual walk or bike ride to shopping, dining and the scenic views offered on the waterfront boardwalk downtown. Enjoy the rich History of Manteo with a tour of our shops and an adventure to Festival Park! A bike ride North is always a great opportunity to take in our amazing North Carolina Aquarium or to discover the mystery of The Lost Colony at Fort Raleigh.

From the Refuge on Roanoke Island you are just a mile from Wanchese Seafood Industrial park which you might have seen featured on shows such as Wicked Tuna. Wanchese has a vibrant fishing community, stop into O’Neals Seafood Harvest to enjoy lunch or pickup your fresh fish for dinner right off the boat!

Beechland Campground & The Refuge on Roanoke Island are both located less than a 10 minute drive to the beaches of Nags Head or travel a little further to Oregon Inlet to enjoy surf fishing opportunities just 15 miles away from either campground. Of course, if the wild horses of Corolla are calling your name, take a day trip North but plan accordingly. Traffic can be congested on a Saturday and this one hour drive can quickly turn into 1 1/2 hours on cottage turnover day. Don’t forget to research guided wild pony tour companies as 4WD is necessary for beach driving in that area and local tour guides can eliminate the need to air down and navigate the tides.

We have so many wonderful opportunities on the Outer Banks for History Buffs, Nature Enthusiasts, Beach Bunnies and more. Whatever adventure you’re looking for while on The Outer Banks, our two campgrounds on Roanoke Island are the perfect homebase for your Outer Banks adventure!
